Officer Finds A Dog In The Wilderness – Then Realizes What Her Owners Are About To Do

Chris Lynch of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources was doing his daily patrol when he noticed something odd in his area.

He saw a vehicle parked in the middle of the wilderness and a man with a dog running at his side. Lynch decided to stop to check what was going on since his premonition told him that something isn’t right.

If he did not stop, things would have ended tragically.

Lynch noticed the man with the dog beside him slip a rifle back into its case as he approached the parked vehicle. As he got closer, he saw another man digging a hole not far from where the vehicle was parked.

When Lynch asked them why they were digging a hole, one of the men said that they were going to bury the dog. However, the officer noticed that there is only an empty box in the hole and that was when he realized that the two were about to kill the dog.

The playful pup did not even have the slightest idea that the two men she was with were planning to kill her.

Lynch could not help to ask why, and one of the men said that they were going to shoot the little dog because she is old.

The officer was determined to stop whatever it is that they were planning to do and informed the two men that they were on a private property. Lynch asked the men to hand the dog over to him, which they obliged without any hesitation. It also appeared that the men did not have a permit to carry a loaded weapon in their vehicle.

Lynch surrendered the dog to a local animal center called Delta Animal Shelter.

“Tunzy is an 11-year-old healthy female shih tzu,” a spokesperson from the animal shelter told The Dodo. “She is very lucky to have been found before being shot. We are thankful the DNR brought her to the safety of the Delta Animal Shelter. There is no justifiable reason to end her life. She probably has a good five years of life left and her health is fine. This community does not accept what was going to happen, nor any other forms of abuse of an animal.”

Lynch’s action definitely saved this happy dog’s life. The pup’s name is Tunzy and she will soon have the opportunity to be adopted and live with a family that is willing to love her unconditionally.
