A kind man who recently got broken hearted came across a homeless cat who appeared to be living on the streets for quite some time. Connor Manning was feeling down after going through a break up when he noticed the skinny, dirty and flea-ridden cat struggling to find food.
Manning decided to stop and check on the skinny stray cat when it suddenly hopped into his lap and refused to leave. The sweet cat needed some help and Manning was not going to leave her there to die.
“After about five minutes, I started getting up to head home and she was SUPER scared,” Manning told The Dodo. “So I crouched down and she ran right over to me again. And we repeated this process for about four blocks until we were on my porch.”
The skinny stray cat followed his potential human dad all the way home…
The cat went inside the house but was hesitating to hang around, so she decided to stay at Manning’s porch instead. Manny took a few footage of the cat and posted them on his Twitter account where many people found her adorable.
When Manning had to go to a friend’s house, he put out a bed and some water outside for the kitty, hoping she would stay. However, the skinny stray cat was no longer there when he arrived.
Manning got worried until he heard a soft noise coming from outside after an hour.
“I heard the tiniest meows from my door and she came back and I nearly died it was so cute,” Manning said.
He named her Socks!
The cat has chosen Manning to be her forever human dad! The only problem is, Manning has a serious cat allergy that started when he was just a kid.
“I’m, like, super allergic to cats,” Manning said. “My family had to get rid of one when I was little because of it. Driving home from our first vet trip, my throat started to close up, so at that point for my own safety I decided I’d give her to someone else.”
However, it was pretty clear that the cat didn’t want any human but Manning.
Manning began to search for someone else to adopt Socks …
“I was in love,” Manning said. “After a few days of having allergy medicine in my system, I started feeling fine! So, she was home!”
The broken-hearted man has found someone that could help him get through tough times. Manning officially adopted Socks and promised to love her until the end of time.
“She’s a little sweetie, loves meeting new people and [is] full of energy,” Manning said. “Watching her go from a bone-thin lethargic baby covered in fleas into this little pounce machine has been so rewarding.”
