A homeless kitty was found on the streets of Florida all by herself. She is a special kitten who was born different, but her positive attitude helped her survive the darkest time of her life.
Meet the adorable special kitten, Smush!
The abandoned tiny furball was born with a cleft palate and other medical conditions that needed to be treated immediately. Luckily some kind-hearted people found her wandering the streets and they brought her to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
Despite her serious medical issues, the little ginger kitty has all the energy in the world. There is nothing she loves to do but to play with every human she encounters.
The cat is also suffering from a severe case of ringworm and an upper respiratory infection. Because she was born with a cleft palate, Smush wasn’t eating on her own.
Fortunately for Smush, several students including the cat coordinator for Helping Hands Pet Rescue named Lindsey decided to look after her round-the-clock.
Lindsey took care of Smush 24/7 and made sure she gets all the right nutrients while she tries to recover from her illness.
Smush never complained! She faced adversity with so much energy.
People at the college also allowed Lindsey to take Smush with her everywhere so she could continue caring for her while at school.
Look at her! She’s a fighter!
By the time she had fully recovered, Smush met Shannon – and the little ginger girl immediately captured the photographer’s attention.
It was love at first sight! Shannon adopted Smush and gave her a furever home
“I am a photographer and volunteer with multiple pet rescues and animal welfare organizations so I knew about Smush. My wife Sarah and I knew that she belonged to us,” Shannon told Love Meow.
This is her today! She looks beautiful as ever!
“She is very sassy! She is as feisty as they come, probably because of her fighting spirit as a kitten.”
Smush is a happy cat since the beginning and she deserves all the love she gets.
“(If Smush could talk) she would tell us to keep fighting and trust the kind people in animal rescues who save kitties like her.”
Christmas is just around the corner!
