A kitten was found by three teenagers drowning in a river trying to swim itself to safety. Without hesitation, the three friends jumped into action and rescue the poor baby cat.
Not only did they risk their lives to save a helpless black kitten, the three teenagers also walked a few miles up hill to make sure the tiny cat gets all the needed help.
“It does your heart good to know that there are young people out there that will continue on after us… Yesterday three young teenagers turned up at my place with this little tot wrapped up in one of their hoodies,” Kitten Inn, a rescue group in Lower Hutt, New Zealand posted on Facebook.
“They had been down at the River and saw this poor little soul floating past on top of a log. Not only did they jump into the river to rescue the little kitten but they also then walked over 4km to bring it to me. “
The black kitten immediately joined the other tiny felines in the shelter.
If not because of these three kind-hearted teenagers, Sarah, Lilly and David, the poor kitten would have drowned. It was a quick decision to make for the three young people that saved the cat.
Fortunately, the three friends knew exactly where to bring homeless cats that are found in the neighborhood.
“When they arrived at my door they said “We knew this was where you take all the kittens no one else wants,”” the rescue group said on Facebook.
The kids named the kitten Woody!
The tiny cat is now safe at the shelter and has already been adopted by a kind-hearted mother cat who quickly accepted Woody as her own.
“I would like to thank Sarah, Lilly and David again, I hope your parents know they did a fantastic job,” Kitten Inn added.
Woody will soon be put up for adoption as soon as he is ready. The volunteers will do everything that they can to make sure Woody will end up in a loving home.
“Hi! My name is Woody, and on 30th September 2015 I found myself floating down the Hutt River…off to the big sea where I surely would’ve died. I didn’t want to be on the log and I’m not sure why anyone else wanted me on the log either”
